Wedding on the Steamboat Natchez – Cat & Russell

This fantastic California couple wanted a very non-traditional wedding! We started out with an extended portrait session of the bride and groom around the French Quarter, looking for interesting spots for pictures, before ending up at the Steamboat Natchez where their wedding ceremony was to take place on the aft deck of the boat. It was an intimate gathering, with a total of only about 20 people in attendance. Taking place on Halloween afternoon, it was only natural for all of the guests to wear a variety of masks supplied by the bride and groom. And of course, Cat’s mask was that of an adorable cat!

The Natchez has been a New Orleans icon since it was built and launched in 1975, and carries on the traditions of her eight predecessors who have shared this name. I love how this boat is powered by a real steam engine and is actually propelled by the huge paddlewheel at its stern, rather than this being just for show as some may assume. The boat makes several daily cruises on the Mississippi River every day, and is available for for weddings and other special events as well. So if you are looking to get married in New Orleans in an unconventional setting, definitely consider this fabulous floating venue!
