In this black and white photograph, this couple shares their first dance during their wedding reception at Grass Lawn in Gulfport, Mississippi. The event took place on an evening in April, which is a great time of year to get married in the south due to the mild temperatures.
Grass Lawn was built in 1836 by a Louisiana surgeon to be used as a summer home. Many years later, it was sold to the city, and it began to be used for public and private events. Sadly, the original building was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, but a replica was constructed in its place. It's beachfront location, classic Greek Revival architecture, and spacious grounds make it an ideal venue for Mississippi Gulf Coast weddings.
This couple's ceremony took place at the nearby St. James Catholic Church, with just the reception being held at Grass Lawn, but this venue can host outdoor wedding ceremonies as well. It's also a nice setting for engagement and bridal portrait sessions.
