This Slidell couple decided to do their engagement portrait session at their wedding venue, The Villa in Carriere, Mississippi. We chose to do the session in mid-afternoon, which although is typically not the best time of day in terms of light, it corresponded with when we will likely be doing their first look and portraits on the wedding day itself, which gave us the opportunity to have the engagement portrait session double as scouting for suitable spots with good light for the wedding day.
The above photo was captured near the row of trees by the venue's gazebo, where wedding ceremonies here typically take place.
But the best light was toward the back of the property, where a large treeline provided good shade to work with.
The front of the French countryside style venue, facing east, also was in good light, and is where we'll likely do the couple's first look on the wedding day.
The Villa is located in Carriere, Mississippi, near Picayune. Not surprisingly, the property was originally used as a farm, first pigs, then later cypress trees. Its owners also run the Slidell Louisiana wedding venues The Sadie Jane and Pinewood Country Club.
