Wedding at St. Patrick’s Church and the Lighthouse Building – Clare & Nathan

This wedding was booked somewhat at the last minute, only about five weeks or so before the event, and I’m so glad I was available!  We started out with some “getting ready” shots at Drury Inn on Poydras Street, before heading to nearby Saint Patrick’s Church on Camp Street for the full Catholic mass ceremony.  This is a gorgeous old church that features beautiful murals and stained glass behind and above the altar, and is a pleasure to photograph.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, while we were doing the formal group shots, the guests mingled at the Lighthouse building which was only a half a block away from the church, and then we all hit the streets of the central business district for a second line parade, led by the Storyville Stompers, which circled back around to the Lighthouse Building venue, where the reception was to take place.  This landmark was initially just another nondescript building in the CBD.  It wasn’t until the charity organization the Lighthouse for the Blind purchased it in 1924 and added the distinctive lighthouse tower that it became an instantly recognizable landmark.  Now that it’s been turned into a wedding venue, I look forward to shooting there again!  And yes, those are matching Snuggies that the bride and groom are wearing, which were a gift (with a backstory!) from the maid of honor.
