Kristi & Shannon’s Elopement at Felicity Church

This Mississippi couple had a small wedding ceremony at Felicity Church in New Orleans, but this was a last-minute change from their original plans.  They had originally scheduled an elopement at the Algiers Courthouse on the Westbank, but just a few days prior to their date, the courthouse called the bride and said they would be unable to perform the ceremony. Fortunately, a couple of great New Orleans wedding professionals stepped in and really helped make lemonade out of lemons.

The bride and I discussed several alternate locations, but I was thrilled when I learned that my first choice, Felicity Church, happened to be available that afternoon and venue owner Chris Jones was willing to accommodate the couple and their dozen or so guests. Michele Adams of Unique Weddings in New Orleans also stepped up on short notice and performed the beautiful ceremony for the couple.

Felicity Church is an absolutely stunning location for a wedding ceremony, but what I really enjoy photographing there are portraits. There are plenty of great little spots to shoot in this old building, and it’s not a stretch by any means to call it a photographer’s playground!
