The reception was at the beautiful Elms Mansion on St. Charles Ave.

I love when I have a wedding where I can say “well, I’ve never seen THAT before!”  McHardy’s groom’s cake was a nicely rendered sloth (he’s in the exotic animal business).

After the ceremony, we headed to the beautiful Le Pavillon for the reception.

During Dawn’s bridal portrait last month, I learned that Dan is a fighter pilot… an Eagle driver in the Louisiana Air National Guard’s 122nd Fighter Squadron, the Bayou Militia.  Dan wore F-15 cuff links, and his groom’s cake was decorated with the squadron’s insignia.

Dawn & Dan booked the Bucktown All-Stars to perform at the reception, and I don’t think they could have made a better choice… the musicianship of each and every member of this band was absolutely astounding, and they all seemed to be having a blast.  On several occasions, the brass section would venture out onto the dance floor and interact with the bride and groom and guests, which was a lot of fun.

It was a great wedding… congratulations Dawn & Dan!
