Denise & Sammy’s Wedding at the St. Louis Hotel in New Orleans – 9/25/10

Denise and Sammy’s ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful courtyard of the St. Louis Hotel.

Rev. John Zimmer officiated the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the Storyville Stompers led everyone on a Second Line through the Quarter and then back to the hotel for the reception.

One of the most unique wedding cakes I’ve ever seen!

The cutting of the groom’s cake turned into a food fight!

Sammy and his best man performed for the crowd, and actually did a really nice job!

Lauren & Gabe’s Wedding at the St. Louis Hotel in New Orleans – 4/16/10

Lauren & Gabe’s ceremony and reception were held in the beautiful courtyard of the St. Louis Hotel.  Before the Ketubah signing and ceremony, the couple had their “first look” which was a lot of fun.

Lauren’s beautiful dress was designed and made by her sister Rachel, who, wanting the dress to be absolutely perfect, was busy making last minute little alterations and adjustments almost up to the start of the ceremony.

For the reception, Lauren and Gabe had a great band, No Idea… I’ve known Troy and Glenn for a long time, and it’s wonderful to work with them, not to mention the great music making my job that much more enjoyable!

Heidi & Luke’s Courtyard Wedding in the French Quarter – 4/3/10

Heidi & Luke’s ceremony and reception took place at the St. Louis Hotel’s beautiful courtyard.  We started the evening with an emotional “first look”, and then the drizzly weather cleared up just in time for us to get some quick shots around the French Quarter before the ceremony.  Groovy 7 was on hand for the reception entertainment, but Nick, the band’s jazz-influenced guitarist, performed for the ceremony as well, and the couple’s recession music selection was the end section of Layla.

One of the best aspects of being a wedding photographer is that I frequently get to listen to great live music without having to go into a smoky bar.  And although it’s hard call any band “the best” in this city full of outstanding musicians, I really think you’d be hard-pressed to find a better wedding band than Groovy 7.  The demo songs on their website are good, but don’t even come close to showing how incredibly entertaining, versatile, and tight this band is.

And as good as they are, this night they had a little help from an Australian guest on Luke’s side, who brought his trumpet and wowed everyone with his Satchmo-like playing and singing as he sat in with the band for several songs throughout the night.
