I’ve photographed this international medical education conference in Hollywood for the past 4 years, and always look forward to it. Scores of dedicated physicians, nurses, and industry representatives come together from all over the world to advance the care of patients suffering from diabetes, particularly with regards to lower extremity complications. Actor and diabetes awareness advocate Edward James Olmos (whose numerous TV and movie roles include Miami Vice, Blade Runner, Selena, and Battlestar Galactica) presented the Edward James Olmos Award for Advocacy in Amputation Prevention to Dr. Benjamin Lipsky.

Though admittedly not quite as fun as weddings, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this 3-day international medical education conference in Los Angeles for the past several years. I get the opportunity to work with some great people, including a number of wonderful doctors devoted to advancing the care of people suffering from diabetes. Each year, actor Edward James Olmos presents the Edward James Olmos Award for Advocacy in Amputation Prevention.
