Kristen & Steve’s Wedding – Pat O’s on the River, New Orleans – 4/26/08

This wonderful couple was to have been wed at Jackson Square, but inclement weather forced the ceremony to move to the wedding chapel at the Hilton St. Charles. Though I’m sure Kristen and Steve were disappointed, they didn’t show it, and refused to let the rain dampen their spirit. Thanks to Michele Adams and her Unique Weddings in New Orleans team, and Steven with Dunn & Sonnier Flowers, the last-minute venue move went surprisingly smooth.

After the ceremony, as we awaited transportation to the reception, the fabulous Pin-Stripe Brass Band entertained in the lobby of the hotel, which the guests (most of them from out-of-town) as well as the steady stream of Jazz Fest refugees returning from a rainy day at the Fairgrounds seemed to really enjoy.

After the beautiful reception at Pat O’s on the River, the couple received a wonderful sparkler sendoff, and rode away on a horse-drawn carriage.

Tara & Scott’s Wedding – Jackson Square, New Orleans French Quarter – 11/21/07

Tara & Scott exchanged heartfelt vows in an intimate Jackson Square ceremony.

The day before, Tara and I spoke on the phone, and we were both concerned about the weather, which was predicted to be quite nasty, with a 60 – 80% chance of storms. But, the weather gods smiled on this couple… literally minutes before their afternoon ceremony was to begin, the menacing skies that had been lingering all day suddenly cleared, and the weather was beautiful for the rest of their day.

After the brief ceremony, we had a nice carriage ride around the French Quarter, stopping at opportune spots for photographs.

Alexis & Greg’s Wedding – Jackson Square & Pharmacy Museum, New Orleans – 10/27/07

Alexis and Greg are in the motion picture profession, and Greg’s particular occupation, location scout, was readily apparent when we met for the first time several months ago… he pulled his notebook for the reception venue, which included detailed diagrams, notes, and photos from every conceivable angle.

Another indication was their use of the term “magic hour” in the context of discussing what time the ceremony would take place. And indeed, the lighting was absolutely splendid. We had a few minutes before the ceremony to get some shots of the couple around the French Quarter, and then after they exchanged vows in Jackson Square, the Hot Eight Brass Band led us towards the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum where the reception was to be held.

We hadn’t gone far when a police officer approached the couple, bringing the procession to a screeching halt. Apparently a parade permit is required for this type of thing, and it appeared that we were to be forced to disband. Fortunately, Greg was able to convince the officer to let us continue after pointing out that our destination was only 2 blocks away.

The reception had a masquerade theme, and Alexis & Greg provided all the guests with wonderful masks.
