Minal and Kenji’s ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Hermann-Grima house. A light rain started to fall just as the ceremony was beginning, but that didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s spirits (though it was a bit tricky for me to shoot one-handed, holding an umbrella with the other hand!). The couple created their own unique ceremony, combining elements from each of their cultures (Minal’s family being Indian, and Kenji’s being Japanese).
After the ceremony, we headed to Broussard’s lovely courtyard next door for the reception. Later in the evening, after the rain had ceased, Minal and Kenji and I went out to get some shots of them in the Quarter, which was a lot of fun!
At the end of the night, the New Birth Brass Band led everyone on a Second Line parade through the streets. Shivas Gilotra accompanied the band, playing the Dhol, giving this New Orleans tradition a bit of Indian flavor.
