I photograph weddings throughout the New Orleans area and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and am available for travel as well.
FAQ:
How would you describe your style of wedding photography?
I shoot primarily in a photojournalistic style. Although I do photograph the standard group formals (utilizing studio-quality lighting), the bulk of my wedding coverage consists of unobtrusively capturing the beauty, splendor, and emotion of the day. I am not traditional, but I’m also not excessively artsy.
If I book you, will you be the one who actually photographs my wedding?
Absolutely… I personally photograph all of my weddings.
What type of equipment do you use?
I shoot with top-of-the-line Nikon professional digital SLR bodies and lenses.
Do you bring backup equipment?
Yes, I carry enough backup equipment so that even multiple failures would not affect my ability to cover your wedding.
How far in advance should I book you?
About a year in advance is usually sufficient to secure your date, though certain popular dates (such as Saturdays in the Spring or Fall) tend to book up quicker.
Can you hold my date?
Unfortunately, no. If you request, as a courtesy I can attempt to contact you should another bride inquire about your date, but I cannot guarantee this, particularly if the other bride is ready to book immediately.
How do I go about reserving you to photograph my wedding?
We can either meet in person to sign the contract and pay the retainer, or if this is not possible (if you don’t live in the New Orleans area, for instance), I can email you a PDF of the contract, which you can sign and return to me with a check (in this case, once the contract has been emailed to you I do hold the date for a period of 7 days to allow for mailing time, so no need to worry about another bride snagging the date).
Is digital photography as good as film? Are my images safe?
The quality of professional digital SLR cameras now exceeds 35mm film, and quite dramtically so in terms of the ability to shoot in low light. In addition, there are numerous other advantages provided by digital in the fast-paced environment of photographing weddings (the ability to instantly be ready to shoot in widely varying lighting conditions instead of having to load film of a specific color balance or sensitivity, being able to decide later which images will become black and white, not having to stop to change film every 24 or 36 shots). Digital also provides for unprecedented protection of your precious wedding photographs. My primary camera bodies capture to two memory cards simultaneously, providing an instant backup that drastically reduces the chances of image loss. Immediately upon returning home from your wedding, the files are downloaded to a hard drive, and numerous backups are made (including multiple off-site backups), which was simply unfathomable in the film days where only one original existed.
Are the photographs posted online for friends and family to view and order?
Yes, the gallery stays active for 6 months.
How long after the wedding before the images are ready to view?
Typically, a few days after the wedding I’ll do a blog post with a dozen or so of my favorite shots as a preview. The full gallery is usually up after about 2 weeks.
