I had a fun time photographing this easy-going New Orleans couple. Our first attempt a few weeks ago was rained out, but the weather on this day was much more pleasant and October-like.

This very nice couple from San Francisco started their wedding day celebrations with a joyful Tisch and Ketubah signing at the Westin hotel, with them seeing each other for the first time that day just before the beginning of the latter. We then headed over to City Park, where the ceremony took place in the gardens next to Pavilion of the Two Sisters, with the Chuppah and beautiful decorations provided by Urban Earth.
Dr. Jazz led the couple and guests on a festive Second Line around the grounds, which everyone really enjoyed. After the cocktail hour, we moved over to the New Orleans Museum of Art for the reception. Dr. Jazz showed their versatility, having performed for the ceremony, the Second Line, the cocktail hour, and now the beginning of the reception for the traditional Hora dance, which was wonderfully chaotic (as they usually are!).
New Orleans legend Kermit Ruffins and his band then took over for the rest of the reception.
At the end of the night, Amy and Andy were given a fantastic departure with sparklers… these are sometimes difficult to coordinate, but the Unique Weddings in New Orleans team did a great job with it, as they did with all the other aspects of this wonderful wedding.
And, of course, given the Saints’ performance on Sunday, I felt it fitting to start out with this image…

This San Francisco couple was a lot of fun to work with during their engagement portrait, and I knew their wedding was going to be a blast. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding, and Emily & Gordon’s took place at Jackson Square. Cool Bones performed the ceremony music, and Judge Mary “KK” Norman officiated, while Dunn & Sonnier provided the beautiful flowers. Unique Weddings in New Orleans coordinated the event and ensured everything ran smoothly.
Afterward, we hopped on buses for a quick ride to The Foundry for the reception. Cool Bones started things off with some jazz, and then Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and his incredible band took the stage and kept everyone dancing the whole night, including a hilarious extended musical introduction of the bride and groom and the bridesmaids. The beautiful (and delicious) cake was crafted by Royal Cakery.
Near the end of the night, Cool Bones prepared to wrap it up with a Second Line around the block, but before doing so a few of the members joined Rockin’ Dopsie’s band for a wonderful impromptu jam session. We’ve got the most talented musicians in the world down here!
