Tanya & Matthew’s Wedding at the St. Louis Hotel New Orleans – 4/5/09

This Chicago couple booked me just a few weeks prior to the wedding date, and I’m very happy that I was available, as it was a very fun wedding.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Johnny Adams, and afterward The Jaywalkers led us on a second line parade around the Quarter and back to the hotel courtyard for the reception.  At the reception, Jerry Embree and the Flavors of New Orleans band played a great variety of music that kept the guests entertained.

At the end of the night, Tanya & Matthew were given a sparkler send-off, and then we hopped into a carriage for a wonderful ride around the Quarter, stopping at various spots to get some shots of the newlywed couple.

Oak Lodge Baton Rouge Wedding – Jill & Bobby – 4/4/09

When I first met this couple several months ago, and the groom introduced himself as Bobby McGee, to which he quickly added, “yes, like the Janis Joplin song”.  They were a fun couple, and I was delighted when they selected me to photograph their wedding, which took place at the Oak Lodge in Baton Rouge.

After the ceremony outside in the patio area, After 8 performed for the reception.  I had done a wedding with these guys a few years ago, and they were a very entertaining band, so I was glad to be working with them again.

Of course, given the groom’s name, their first dance song just had to be “Me and Bobby McGee”!

At the end of the night, Jill & Bobby were given a send-off with bubbles. They emerged from the lines of bubble-blowing guests to find their transportation waiting, a fully-equipped, luxurious, gleaming… El Camino?!?  Yep.  Jill’s dad had the task of booking transportation for the couple, which he did with a wicked sense of humor. As he explained to me, growing up, Jill had always expressed her dislike of El Caminos… she absolutely despises these odd-looking vehicles, and made no secret of this.  So her dad knew this would be the perfect departure transportation, and set about on a long and arduous mission to secure an El Camino for the night.

Fortunately Jill too has a sense of humor, and seemed to appreciate the irony as this chariot carried her and Bobby away!
