Nicole & Clifton’s Wedding at the Elms Mansion New Orleans – 3/29/09

I had a great time shooting Nicole & Clifton’s wedding at the beautiful Elms Mansion on St. Charles Ave.  Nicole was a very detail-oriented bride, and amazed everyone at her skill in delegating tasks to various people!  Her flowers and cake were gorgeous, as was her dress (complete with an antique pin that was her grandmother’s attached to the back).

After the ceremony, the couple made their grand entrance into the reception by coming down the elegant staircase.

Rick with Decades Music handled the entertainment (I’ve worked with him a lot lately!), and did a great job as usual.  I love doing weddings with Rick, because he almost always throws in a few great ’80s songs like Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ (which the crowd loves).

At the end of the night, Nicole & Clifton were given a sparkler exit, and departed (along with quite a few guests) on a chartered streetcar!

Omni Royal Orleans Wedding – Lauren & Justin – 3/28/09

(This was one of the hardest blog posts I’ve ever done.  I usually try to keep posts about weddings to around a dozen images, but when I got through making my picks, I had more than double that!  There was just so much that went on during this wedding, it was extremely difficult to cut that number down.  I eventually got it down to 20 shots, but it was very hard.  Now I know how couples feel when they have to narrow down their selections for the album!)

This New York couple had a spectacular wedding at the Omni Royal Orleans.  The weather had been very bad for several days, so everyone was relieved to wake up Saturday morning to a beautiful blue sky.  The bride and groom had their “first look” up on the Omni’s observation deck, overlooking the river and French Quarter.

The ceremony took place in the gorgeous courtyard, and then the fabulous Pin-Stripe Brass Band immediately got the party started as they performed during the cocktail hour.  We then took to the streets of the French Quarter as the band led everyone in a Second Line parade around the block, which I’m sure the guests (most of them from out of town) will never forget.

Back at the hotel for the reception, Vieux Carre took over the entertainment.  The guests were so anxious to dance, the band literally had to beg them to take their seats for dinner!  A while later, a special guest showed up… Lauren is a big fan of Elvis, so the family had secretly arranged for The King to drop in and do a few songs.  Afterwards, the hora was wonderfully chaotic (as they usually are!), and then the night was wrapped up with a sparkler exit followed by Lauren tossing the bouquet from the waiting carriage.

Dunn & Sonnier did a great job with the flowers, and the Unique Weddings in New Orleans team planned and coordinated the event.
